Roy P. Giarrusso focuses his practice in environmental matters. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in environmental cost recovery, contribution, land damage, and personal injury actions. He has litigated governmental, private party, and citizen-suit actions brought under various federal and state environmental statutes including the federal Superfund, the Clean Water Act, Chapter 21E of the Massachusetts General Laws, and the Superfund statutes in each of the New England states. In addition, Mr. Giarrusso’s litigation practice also includes construction, real property, and land use/zoning matters. His clients include major corporations, project developers, family-owned businesses, and property owners of all types, and his name is on the approved defense counsel list of several insurers for New England claims.

Mr. Giarrusso also regularly counsels companies in the environmental industry and other corporations concerning environmental litigation, liabilities, and regulatory matters. His in-depth knowledge of the environmental industry and familiarity with its regulators throughout New England is critical to the successes obtained for the firm’s clients.

Mr. Giarrusso represents clients in matters in each of the New England states. He is New England counsel to the largest solid waste management company in the United States for all hazardous waste enforcement and litigation matters under the federal Superfund and corollary state statutes. Mr. Giarrusso’s trial experience includes jury and bench trials in the trial courts of the Commonwealth, the Federal District Court, and the United States Bankruptcy Court. He has also briefed and argued appeals in the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the Supreme Judicial Court, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition, Mr. Giarrusso has mediated and arbitrated matters on various issues, and has represented clients before regulatory agencies and boards.

Prior to forming his own firm, Mr. Giarrusso associated for six years at a major Boston law firm where he concentrated his practice in environmental law, products liability, and business litigation. Mr. Giarrusso has also lectured on environmental law and litigation as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Suffolk University Law School. Mr. Giarrusso’s reputation among trial attorneys has earned him an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbel, the highest rating possible.
